On behalf of the Newfoundland Aboriginal Women�s Network,
I welcome you to our website. Incorporated in December 2005 as a
not-for-profit organization, the Newfoundland Aboriginal Women�s Network grew up out of the need for Aboriginal women to reclaim their political authority over decisions directly affecting the lives of themselves,
their families and communities.

We hope that this website will be a tool to reinforce the importance
of keeping our culture foremost in our lives and in our communities; to communicate issues and problems shared within our communities;
to create a contact and network; to provide information and support
to women to develop groups in their own communities; and to encourage
growth in the groups that are already established We hope you find the information and resources available on this site useful.

Our Mission

The Newfoundland Aboriginal Women's Network will strive to promote, enhance and encourage the health, social, educational,economic cultural, and political, well being of Aboriginal women within the Island portion of Newfoundland and Labrador.

Our Mandate

We will liaise with other organizations on a regional, provincial, and National level which have common goals.
We will advocate on behalf of our members wherever possible to improve access to programs and services in health, Social, Education, Economic and Political programming and surfacing issues that warrent advocacy.
We will continue to assist in the formation of local women's groups.
We will strive to revitalize our cultural heritage through cultural education, traditional teachings,and relearning of our language where possible.
We will develop programs and services that address priority issues identified by the membership of NAWN.
